Once installed, electrification can serve its purpose for a fairly long time, in some cases even up to 20 years or more. With the high-paced technology advancement, a lot changes in that time – new materials, new approaches and new components are created to improve the performance and ability to optimise processes. Here are some examples that we usually encounter:

• Modernise the existing middle voltage switchgears to low-voltage switchgears
• Change from DC to AC technolgy
• Installing variable speed drives

The biggest benefit that electrification modernisation brings, is modularity. For example, by installing frequency converters, it is possible to adjust the motor’s speed. Based on the process, it is not necessary to run the motor at 100 % at all times. With the variable speed drive, it is possible to run it at a lower, more optimal speed. Comparing to the conventional on and off switches, this can bring significant savings. As opposed to conventional central system control, the system can now consist of standalone modular units. Each of them can be optimised to find the right balance between the optimal performance and energy savings.
