The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) has acquired two Roxia Smart Filter Press™ (SFP) filters for the GTK Mintec research and pilot environment in Outokumpu, Finland. The new equipment will support research related to mineral processing as well as filtration solutions for the mining and circular economy industries. The more compact SFP 470 is particularly suited for the filtration of smaller concentrate batches, while the larger SFP 1000 will be used primarily for tailings processing.
“In GTK Mintec’s pilot plant operations, we require a variety of technical filtration solutions, and the Roxia SFP filters now complement our existing filtration capabilities. Production volumes at our pilot plant vary significantly, and with these filters the chamber volume can be adjusted according to needs with relatively little effort,” says Timo Suominen, Senior Specialist at GTK.
GTK provides independent research, testing services, and expertise for the mining and minerals sector. At GTK Mintec, research focuses on areas such as mineral processing technologies, utilization of side streams, tailings management, and water recycling. The Roxia filters will be used in research and pilot-scale activities to generate data on the filterability of various concentrates and slurries for industrial-scale applications.
“It is great to see Roxia filters become part of the GTK Mintec research environment. The knowledge generated through research and pilot-scale testing helps mining and process industry operators develop more efficient and sustainable mineral processing and water treatment solutions,” says Roope Kupias from Roxia.
